Discover one of the most beautiful nonconformist chapels in Wales in this experience led by Chapel members.

Located in the magnificent scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park in mid Wales, the Plough Chapel was founded in the very earliest days of Dissent in 1699.

The first worshippers here met in a meeting room in a public house called the ‘Plow House’ and the present chapel is built on the same site.

Explore the stunning interior, with its rich woodwork and striking interior, conserved intact for over 100 years. The finely carved mahogany, oak, ebony and pitch pine is testimony to the craftsmanship of local workers, while the ornate panelled ceiling concealing a Victorian ventilation system. And the organ was water powered!

This insiders guide tour is followed by by tea and Welsh cakes served by chapel members.

A visit to the Plough Chapel can be combined with a visit to Y Gaer, the local museum and art gallery, which is only a short walk away. Brecon Cathedral is also nearby and is well worth a visit.
