St Pabo

An almost unique medieval church which has enjoyed relatively little restoration such that it remains largely medieval dating from the 12th century and mentioned in the Norwich Taxation of 1254.

Hanes yr eglwys hon

The church sits in a circular llan.

It was partially rebuilt in the 14th century and Harold Hughes carried out a small amount of restoration in the first decade of the 20th century. The church contains a monument to King Pado a 6th century King of North Briton who was granted land in Anglesey by Cadwallon Lawhir.  A memorial stone dating from the 14th century was carved in the same manner (so probably from the same workshop) as the image of Iestyn in Llaniestyn and Eva in Bangor cathedral.
